ManTech PMO Technical Writer in Arlington, Virginia

  • Assists the Government project manager in the development of associated documentation.

  • Determines the needs of end users of technical documentation and works with internal teams to obtain an in-depth understanding of the product and the documentation requirements

  • Produces high-quality documentation that meets applicable standards and is appropriate for its intended audience with easy-to-understand user interface text as directed by the DHS and CBP style guides

  • Analyzes existing and potential content, focusing on reuse and single-sourcing opportunities and creates and maintains the information architecture

  • Works with technical staff to make products easier to use and thus need fewer instructions

  • Organizes and writes supporting documents for products

  • Standardizes content across platforms and media, selects the appropriate medium for the message or audience in include diagrams, animation, charts, drawings, and photographs to increase users' understanding

  • Gathers usability feedback from customers, designers, and manufacturers

  • Writes clear and concise policies and procedures

  • Adjusts copy as necessary and proofread for grammar and spelling.

  • Creates operating instructions, how-to manuals, assembly instructions, and “frequently asked questions pages to help technical support staff and management

  • This position requires demonstrated initiative, sound judgment, effective decision-making, the ability to plan and organize work, and excellent oral and written communication skills.

  • Requires a detail-oriented self-starter experienced in supporting senior Government leaders and other technical/business professionals.

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Project and SharePoint are required.

  • Superior customer interface with program management with excellent oral and written communication skills are critical.Government PEO or large-scale acquisition program office administrative support experience is a plus.

  • Current Customs and Border Protection Suitability / Background Investigation is required.A Secret clearance and a favorable background investigation conducted within the last six years are required.

Qualifications

Requires Bachelor s degree or equivalent in related technical field and seven to nine years of related (technical writing/editing) experience.
