General Responsibilities: Provides guidance to management for current and proposed investments in telecommunications and network facilities. Constructs the overall system architecture of the information system, to include external and internal interface analysis, internal interface definition, and functional requirement allocations. Researches current and future technological developments and applications. Works closely with systems users to provide guidance in the identification and resolution of user problems and concerns. May lead a team of planning analysts responsible for the research and technical assistance for a user group.
Specific Responsibilities: Establishes system and/or information requirements for the development of enterprise-wide information systems. Designs IT system architecture, to include software, hardware, and communications, to support total system and ends user requirements. Defines system architecture for present and future cross-functional IT requirements and interfaces. Ensures IT systems compatibility and compliance with agency IT standards for architectures.
Required IT Training and Certifications: ITIL® v3 Foundation certification. High-level (III) to expert (level V) knowledge of IT infrastructure and architecture. Knowledge of security infrastructure and architectures.

Qualifications Requires Bachelor’s degree (in Computer Science or related field) or equivalent, and seven to nine years of related (large-scale information system architecture) experience.
Additional Qualifications Required IT Training and Certifications: ITIL® v3 Foundation certification. High-level (III) to expert (level V) knowledge of IT infrastructure and architecture. Knowledge of security infrastructure and architectures.
