CUSTOMER GROUP requires a seniorSystems Engineerto join a multi-disciplinary team in the development and integration of COTS/GOTS tools in a mission-oriented, extremely rapid development space. Development efforts vary greatly based on customer requirements; therefore a solid knowledge of many core technologies including most modern programming languages (C++, Java, .Net, PHP) and databases (Oracle, Objectivity , SQL Server, MySQL,) and large scale cloud/grid parallel data management systems (Pentaho, Hadoop, Netezza, LexisNexis). The candidate must be able to support multiple simultaneous agile projects and implement in a large-scale technical targeting supercomputing infrastructure. Responsibilities include:
• System and architectural design and implementation
• Integration of COTS/GOTS products with the current product suite
• Implementation of software architectural designs
• Lead and participate in teams of expert developers on specific project or sub-projects
• Integration of applications into global security infrastructure
• Configuration of COTS/GOTS applications to meet design and security requirements.
• INFOSEC certification and accreditation engineering, documentation and briefing support.
The candidate will:
• Work directly for the CUSTOMER GROUP STAFF ARCHITECT and assume leadership roles in several aspects of CUSTOMER GROUP technical projects especially in systems reliability usage, and mission responsiveness metrics, improvement – including operational stability, cost schedules, documentation preparation, approval boards and direct customer interaction;
• Support CUSTOMER-wide integration planning and interface coordination; tracking delivery schedules and control gates;
• Support and help coordinate and prioritize multiple on-going activities, including:
o Multiple simultaneous and interdependent software engineering projects
o Consolidation of department technical processes and procedures
o Establishment of operations-relevant systems stability and assurance processes and policies to identify, define, document, and track systems requirements and ensure ongoing O&M for managed IT systems.
Software Development Project Lead Responsibilities include:
• Plan, establish, document, track, follow-up and report status on project actions and requirements
• Track project progress and funding with regular project status briefings
• Initiate, justify, and track project-related procurement actions.
• Document plans and status
• Assist in system architectural designs
• Help solidify and stabilize team-based software CM practices
• Configuration of COTS/GOTS applications to meet design and security requirements.
• Respond to immediate, high-pressure operational user trouble-shooting needs
Occasional short-term travel to support face-to-face technical exchange discussions and briefings may be required.
Position Requirements: 21+ years of relevant experience
Mandatory Skills:
• Minimum 20 years experience developing and supporting applications and COTS/COTS intelligence analysis systems in multiple disciplines, including Java, C/C++, SQL, PHP, Oracle PL/SQL, Microsoft SQL, Perl, Adobe Flex, etc.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and lead a team of junior and mid-level developers in very-large-scale high-performance big-data, cloud/grid computer systems
• Ability to translate user requirements into technical design and implemented code in extremely short timeframes within the Agency INFOSEC context
• Strong technical skills in Object Oriented Design Methodology, database modeling, design, implementation, administration, hosting and O&M and Web/Internet architecture modeling, design, implementation(J2EE, HTML, and XML).
• Experience with Big-Data Cloud, Supercomputing and/or GRID projects (LexusNexus, Netezza, NoSQL, Hadoop, TeraData, Vertica, GreenPlum, etc), and large-scale multi-tiered storage systems and environments (EMC, Hitachi, Quantum, StorNext, Copan, Netezza, Violin Systems, FusionIO, RamSAN, SolidDB, etc), and modern software development related technologies, (e.g., Eclipse, CVS, JUnit, Ant, Apache Tomcat, XML)
Optional Skills:
• Familiarity with project tracking tools such as JIRA and MS Project
• Excellent communications skills (oral, written, and presentation)
• Experience in a high-performance, high-stress mixed contractor/vendor/staff environment leveraging Agency project financial status tracking and reporting systems and Wiki technology.
• Experience with multiple DB platforms: Oracle, MS SQL, MySQL, Objectivity, etc.,
Security Requirements: TS/SCI with Polygraph clearance
