Job Duties and Responsibilities

This position is for a UNIX Systems Administrator to help deliver organization's Cloud capability, as part of the Enterprise Data Layer (EDL) implementation. EDL components will be deployed on both the internal network and for other Customer Community users. The EDL Systems Administrator is responsible for defining, configuring, testing, maintaining, and operating the computing infrastructure.
Responsibilities:
• Work with hosting partner, security, and technical partners to define, implement, and gain C&A for a software baseline
• Work with developers to establish sound, repeatable software deployment procedures and policies
• Work with developers and hosting partner to establish appropriate software/system Enterprise monitoring
• Establish development, testing, and production environments as required
• Plan, test, install, and integrate new and upgraded versions of the relevant software on organizational computer systems in compliance with security and developer requirements
• Work with security components and other technical partners to help define and implement proper software and server configuration
• Implement/support established server auditing requirements
• Assist with capacity planning for infrastructure
• Review and assess impact of proposed changes to current systems.
• Perform other duties as needed

Position Requirements: 16 - 20 years of experience

Mandatory Skills:
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with CLSE operating environment.
• Familiarity with customer operating environment
• Knowledge of the organizational standards for operating configurations, security constraints, and procedures for managing software.
• Ability to analyze the current system configuration and recommend improvements, and ultimately – drive these improvements to completion. In other words, improve the following “ilities”: availability, reliability, serviceability.
• Experience with open source products and tools such as Ant, JUnit, Apache, Tomcat, and MySQL
• Experience with PKI technology and ability to manage server and/or application certificates
• Strong customer service skills, teaming skills, and the ability to collaborate within a cross-functional team
• Ability to research and resolve systems software problems efficiently and accurately
• Ability to create shell scripts

Optional Skills:
• Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, or a related degree program, or work-related experience that has provided equivalent knowledge
• Demonstrated ability to be a quick learner who can work independently
• Demonstrated ability to adjust to changing priorities
• Desire to learn new hardware/software systems and technologies that are consistent with duties.
• Working knowledge of project management techniques to plan and execute projects
• Ability to explain technical issues clearly and accurately to both technical and non-technical audiences
• Familiarity with problems dealing with BigData and some awareness of solutions to handling large datasets.
• Familiarity with content search (i.e. unstructured search/full text index) systems; bonus if skilled in using Solr/Lucene
• Familiarity with NoSQL solutions and specifically – key/value stores; bonus if skilled in using distributed database systems like Apache/Cassandra.
• Familiarity with networking concepts, including TCP/IP, DNS, VLANs
• Familiarity with Storage Area Networks (SANs)
• Familiarity with source code management tools such as SVN or CVS
• Familiarity with software integration tools such as CruiseControl or Hudson
• Experience with successful full life-cycle software development projects
• Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
• Willingness to participate in training and project management functions as needed
• Experience with software development
• Experience building highly available, highly scalable systems
• An easy-going personality and a good sense of humor
