ManTech Safety Engineer, Principal in Quantico, Virginia

The Commandant of the Marine Corps (CMC) directed the formation of the Marine Corps Rapid Capabilities Office (MCRCO) to accelerate the identification and assessment of capabilities that appear to offer significant military utility.

General Responsibilities:

• Evaluating new technology and determining the risk to Marines during user evaluation, documenting accordingly

• Developing risk mitigation plans,

• Assisting with the development of Safety Releases for signature by General Officer (GO),

• Assisting with test plans for field-level user evaluations, specifically for the development of operation user surveys and Marine feedback.

• Travel required: 15%

•Analyze the safety of equipment

•Provide recommendations regarding the areas of environmental, system safety, safety, and occupational health for acquisition areas of responsibility (e.g., safety releases, risk acceptances, regulatory guidance, etc.), and verify that DoD programs adhere to regulations and best practices such as DoDI 5000.02 and MIL-STD-882.

•Provide independent analysis of programmatic ESOH efforts, approving safety releases, ensuring ESOH efforts are integrated into overall systems engineering activities, providing integrated logistics assessments and milestone and fielding recommendations, providing subject matter expert (SME) review and recommendations for acquisition program safety requirement

Mandatory Skills Requirements:

•DoDI 5000.02 and MIL-STD 882 safety guidance and best practices

•Knowledge and skills required to independently write and review the following types of documentation in accordance with Marine Corps and DoD requirements:

•Systems Safety Program Plan (SSPP)

•Preliminary Hazard List (PHL)

•Systems Hazard Analysis (SHA)

•Operating and Support Hazard Analysis (O&SHA)

•Health Hazard Analysis (HHA)

•Functional Hazard Analysis (FHA)

•System of Systems Hazard Analysis (SoSHA)

•Environmental Hazard Analysis (EHA)

•Hardware and Software System Hazard Analysis

•Explosive Ordinance Disposal Data Analysis

•Human Factors Analysis

•Programmatic Environmental Safety and Health Evaluation (PESHE)

•Safety and Battery Certification

Qualifications

  • Requires Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience and two to four years of related experience.

  • Seven (7) years experience in a technical analyses and writing (with a High School Diploma) of which at least five (5) years include preparing and analyzing technical documentation for Defense needs.
