Description of Position:
This position is for a system engineer/system administrator to provide Front Line Engineering/Tier 2 support for tools and systems on rotating 12 and 8 hour shifts.
Operational System Support - Provide support for TU systems. This includes monitoring and improving monitoring of these systems; responding to and ensuring resolution of operational issues reported by site personnel, 24X7 Monitoring centers, Tier 1 support, dataflow groups, and end users; following and updating provided SOPs; fully document and report issues; and providing feedback to development engineers on how to improve stability and supportability, to include involvement in requirements process. May also assist with installations, upgrades, and patches and ensure system is operating as expected after these actions, performing minor regression testing and validation.
**This position fulfills a task that must be performed 24x7. To meet these requirements, personnel shall be prepared to stay at their position until relieved at the end of their shift. If their replacement does not or cannot reach the office, they will be required to contact their supervisor who will find their replacement; however, they must remain until that replacement arrives.

Wireless Engineers provides continuity between Operations personnel (both in CONUS and OCONUS locations) and the engineering and development teams. The Wireless Engineer’s primary role is to be the voice of operations, advocating on their behalf to provide feedback and guidance to the engineering teams. Wireless Engineers are an integral part of the customer organization, ensuring that operations personnel have the tools to successfully, safely and efficiently complete their operational objectives. The Customer organization reaches across multiple Intelligence Community (IC) Agencies and internal offices; Wireless Engineers must be dynamic, with outstanding interpersonal skills and the ability to work in diverse teams easily building a rapport with those around them.

Position Responsibilities:

This position requires an experienced systems engineer and administrator to provide Linux engineering, software integration, and tier three administration in the context of an automated could provisioning environment. The Linux baseline is a tightly secured configuration which has been engineered into a corporate, accredited, and supportable platform. Called the Common Linux Server Environment, this platform has been repeatedly provisioned, and is the operating system currently available via the automated provisioning service.

This position will be as a member of the core enterprise Linux engineering team and will be responsible for refining and incorporating new software on top of the baseline. 

Will represent the baseline at technical exchanges, providing in-depth guidance to engineer corporate solutions for customers’ varied needs. 

Work closely with team members and infrastructure partners to engineer and implement design decisions, often requiring the applicant to develop working knowledge in new fields to integrate a wide array of software. 

Will be assigned to multiple priority projects and must be able to recommend, implement, and defend decisions that maintain the enterprise baseline in support of the CIO’s stated desire to support standardization at the IT infrastructure layer and current GCS focus on automated operations.

Requirements:

• Significant expertise with Linux including Red Hat and variants

• Proficiency in Shell Scripting and manipulating the Linux command line

The Altiris System Administrator will be responsible for implementing and managing the day-to-day operations of an Altiris 7.1 infrastructure installed across multiple domains. 7. 8. CUSTOMER GROUP requires a seniorSystems Engineerto join a multi-disciplinary team in the development and integration of COTS/GOTS tools in a mission-oriented, extremely rapid development space.
